SAP WalkMe Learning Arc is the new learning platform in the SAP ecosystem. This answers the question of what will happen to SAP training after the announced end of life of Enable Now. What can the new solution do? And how does it differ from previous tools?
In this post:
SAP WalkMe Learning Arc is part of the WalkMe Digital Adoption Platform (DAP) and combines in-app enablement with structured learning content.
The SAP internal learning platform takes the idea of learning by doing further to
Learning while doing – learning directly in the application.
This is because it allows employees to learn at the very moment they use a new function for the first time. Without any training room or interruption. The boundaries between learning, support and digital adoption are removed.
But despite all the technological innovation, human expertise and well thought-out training concepts remain indispensable. In this article, we show how we at ML Gruppe help companies to get the best out of both.
What is SAP WalkMe Learning Arc?
WalkMe Learning Arc is the new AI-supported SAP learning platform and is the strategic successor to SAP Enable Now. Functions from SAP Enable Now, SAP Companion and WalkMe are bundled and connected within the WalkMe Digital Adoption Platform (DAP).
The new WalkMe Learning Arc combines two previously separate learning approaches on a cloud-based platform: structured learning content on the one hand and context-related in-app support on the other. It is therefore less a single learning tool and more a new learning environment.
While traditional training often takes place outside the application, WalkMe Learning Arc relies on in-app enablement:
Learning takes place while using the software – context-related and needs-based.
Technically, WalkMe Learning Arc is built on the same basis as WalkMe DAP (Digital Adoption Platform) and is directly integrated into the WalkMe console. Anyone already familiar with WalkMe will find it intuitive to use.
What features does WalkMe Learning Arc offer?
- Guided process steps (walk-throughs) directly in the system
- Context-based help in SAP interfaces
- Tooltips and hints at the right moment of use
- Learning paths and microlearning elements
- AI-supported recommendations for suitable content or support
Briefly explained: WalkMe DAP (Digital Adoption Platform) is the core platform for in-app user guidance. This means direct help in the running system. WalkMe Learning Arc supplements this with learning functions: Simulations, e-learning courses and personalized learning paths. The goal: Providing knowledge exactly when it is needed.
Why SAP Enable Now and WalkMe are being merged
SAP has been pursuing a clear strategy for some time: digital adoption and learning are to grow closer together. Until now, structured knowledge and skills development through training and support directly in the application were two separate worlds. With WalkMe, SAP is now creating the basis for bringing the two closer together.
The acquisition of WalkMe in 2024 was an important step.
WalkMe is one of the leading providers of Digital Adoption Platforms (DAP). This refers to software solutions that help users to use complex applications directly in the work process.
This integration also changes the role of SAP Enable Now.
- SAP Companion, which was previously used for in-app help, will be discontinued.
- Functions from Enable Now are increasingly being integrated into WalkMe.
- Enable Now will remain a Digital Learning Edition for the time being – primarily for simulations and classic e-learning content.
The long-term direction is clear: WalkMe will become the central platform for in-app enablement in the SAP environment.

WalkMe Learning Arc: What makes the new SAP learning platform special
WalkMe changes not only the technology, but also the approach to learning in the SAP environment. WalkMe Learning Arc combines learning and application. Companies can now combine learning content, adoption elements and skills development.
This means:
1. learning directly in the work process
Users receive support
- exactly at the moment of use
- in the concrete process
- without having to leave the surface
This means less training and higher productivity.
2. content authoring for context-based learning content
Content authoring refers to the process of creating digital learning content, such as microlearning modules, courses or simulations. With WalkMe Learning Arc, this process is supported by AI. The platform automatically generates initial learning modules from short descriptions, existing documents or training materials, which are then further structured, adapted and published by authors.
This means that content is created more quickly. However, it remains crucial that learning is structured in a meaningful way. Content must be understandable and tailored to the actual work processes. This is where experience in learning concepts, training design and skills development comes into play.
Typical examples of WalkMe Learning Arc content authoring are
- Step-by-step guides
- Interactive hints and tooltips
- Learning modules and micro-learning elements
- Context-sensitive help directly in the system
This content is linked to the application.
When a user starts a specific SAP process, for example, the appropriate learning content appears automatically.
3. AI-supported support
WalkMe Learning Arc is increasingly integrating AI functions into learning and support processes. The platform analyzes usage patterns, identifies learning needs and derives from this what support users need at any given moment.
On this basis, suitable tips, learning content or guided process steps can be displayed automatically. Employees receive support exactly when they need it.
In this way, learning becomes more personalized and takes place directly in the work process.
What is the difference between Enable Now, WalkMe and WalkMe Learning Arc?
The new developments are raising questions for many companies. This is because several solutions currently exist in parallel in the SAP environment that fulfill different tasks.
A simplified overview helps with classification:
| Solution | Focus | Typical content |
|---|---|---|
| SAP Enable Now (Digital Learning Edition) | Classic learning content | Simulations, e-learning, documentation |
| WalkMe DAP | Digital Adoption | In-app guides, process aids, tooltips |
| WalkMe Learning Arc | Combination of learning and adoption | Learning paths, microlearning, in-app training |
Learning and support are increasingly interlinked – but the systems still fulfill different roles.
As of today (March 2026), simulations and classic e-learning courses are still mainly created via Enable Now.
What are the benefits of WalkMe Learning Arc?
The platform offers several advantages for companies and their employees:
1. faster system adoption New processes and functions are explained directly in the system. Guided process steps, tips and in-app guidance help users to find their way around new applications more quickly. The result: introductory phases are shortened and employees become productive more quickly.
2. fewer support requests Context-sensitive help provides knowledge at exactly the right moment. This prevents many questions from arising in the first place because users receive the answers directly in the application. Result: The internal support teams are relieved and training costs are minimized.
3. scalable learning opportunities Learning content is created once centrally and is available to all users at the same time. Result: Uniform learning standards and knowledge transfer are ensured regardless of location and role.
4. contextualized learning Knowledge is imparted exactly where it is needed: in the specific process and at the right moment. This facilitates the transfer into practice. Result: Content is actually applied.
What are the limits of the platform?
1. complex content still requires training
In-app guides can explain processes and provide support in day-to-day work. However, they are rarely a substitute:
- Background knowledge
- strategic understanding
- Role competencies
Structured learning remains crucial, especially for complex SAP implementations.
2. content authoring requires experience
Creating good learning content is a demanding task. Many companies underestimate the importance of this:
- the didactic concept
- the structuring of learning paths
- the quality of the content
So far, technology alone has not ensured that knowledge is received sustainably.
3. learning strategy and adoption must be considered together
WalkMe Learning Arc is a tool. It is undeniably powerful, but it needs more to be effective:
- Clear learning objectives
- Suitable learning formats
- A coordinated change and learning strategy
It is only through interaction that knowledge is created that can be used in everyday working life.
For which companies is WalkMe Learning Arc particularly worthwhile?
WalkMe Learning Arc shows its strength primarily where employees regularly work with complex SAP systems and processes change frequently.
In these cases, it makes particular sense to use them:
- Implementation or transformation of SAP systems
- complex business processes that are rarely used and therefore difficult to retain
- large user groups with different roles in the system
- international organizations in which learning content must be provided in a scalable manner
In such situations, WalkMe Learning Arc with its in-app enablement supports employees directly in the work process and facilitates the use of new or changed processes. At the same time, structured skills development through training and learning formats remains crucial to ensure that new knowledge is understood, applied and anchored in the long term.
Why trainers and training concepts are still indispensable
Technologies such as WalkMe Learning Arc change learning – but they do not replace it.
On the contrary: they make good learning concepts even more important.
Companies benefit in particular when they combine various elements such as
- In-app enablement
- Structured trainings
- Digital learning formats
- Coaching and support
with each other.
Each element fulfills its own function. It is only when they work together that learning takes place that is effective in everyday working life – like a well-rehearsed ensemble. In this way, individual measures become a learning process that is effective in everyday working life.
This is exactly where we come in. When systems change, we accompany companies on their learning journey. Our learning formats combine technological possibilities with effective skills development. Practical, structured and applicable.
Making sense of WalkMe Learning Arc: What’s critical now
The introduction of WalkMe Learning Arc has raised the question: Where is learning going in the SAP environment?
The answer is: closer to the application, more personalized and directly anchored in the work process.
At the same time, however, it is also clear that technology alone is not enough.
Only the interaction of in-app enablement, training and well thought-out learning formats creates a learning process that really works in everyday working life. Clear structures, suitable formats and experience in learning design are required for this interaction to succeed.
If you would like to effectively coordinate these elements in your company, we will be happy to support you – from the initial idea through to implementation.
