Interactive learning. Work safely: The digital campus for trainees

The task
Health begins with prevention, and that requires orientation. To help trainees take better care of themselves and their team, the Social Insurance for Agriculture, Forestry and Horticulture (SVLFG) wanted to offer suitable further training. To this end, the aim was to create an interactive platform where trainees from the approximately 1.4 million member companies could acquire more expertise in self-protection.
The implementation
Together, we have set up a TraineeCampus on the website. Trainees can use it to experience easily accessible, interactive learning units. Around 20 of these “AktivBits” cover sensitive areas such as nutrition, UV protection, ergonomics and noise protection.
We pick up the target group in their situation: We have designed the AktivBits so that they work perfectly on smartphones. This allows trainees to complete units conveniently on public transport, for example.
To ensure that the participants really internalize the most important knowledge, quiz formats and small practical units anchor the knowledge emotionally through gamification. For example, trainees can assign suitable protective clothing to their avatar or create their own checklists.
To better reflect the trainees’ reality, the AktivBits also offer life hacks and tips on how to save money, how the knowledge can also be incorporated into daily work in a cost-effective way.

The special features of this project
- Reaching young people effectively: The trainees are between 16 and 21 years old. Our learning formats cater to the way they use media on a daily basis.
- Anchoring knowledge emotionally: E-learning, but interactive! Real competence is created when knowledge can be meaningfully applied to different situations. We achieve this anchoring through gamification.
- Understand the trainees’ perspective: Trainees don’t have much money. Protecting their health must also take this into account.
Conclusion
Short, digital, mobile – that’s how young people learn today! SVLFG now reaches more than 10,000 trainees with the AzubiCampus. The AktivBits are consistently tailored to their everyday lives and embed safety-relevant knowledge in a sustainable way. In this way, the project makes an effective contribution to greater occupational safety and prevention in companies.
Takeaway
Interactive learning. Work safely. For young target groups, we are consistently gearing our joint e-learning courses towards mobile learning. The units are designed to be clear, compact and text-free. Interactive elements keep attention levels high and support an effective learning effect.
